Nerd Street helps execute #PlayGalaxy Cup with popular gaming influencers

In January, Nerd Street produced and operated the #PlayGalaxy Cup on behalf of Cheil and Samsung. The #PlayGalaxy Cup was a two-day PUBG Mobile competition that took place at Guildhouse in San Jose, California, and included dozens of prominent gaming influencers playing the mobile game on the new Samsung Galaxy S24.

Nerd Street was responsible for executing many elements of the event including:
- Collaborating on the run of show
- Designing broadcast overlay graphics
- Building out the events staff
- Creating the tournament ruleset and scoring system
- Generating player and observer accounts
- Working with Tencent to obtain observer accounts permissions
- Consulting on various gaming-specific topics
- Executing the live event including onsite troubleshooting
The event was a rousing success with hundreds of people in the audience at Guildhouse and tens of thousands of people tuning in to the broadcast on Samsung’s Twitch channel to watch 10 groups of four battle it out in the #PlayGalaxy Cup.

Hundreds of thousands more watched the fun competition through the Twitch and YouTube channels of the content creators who competed like fuslie, xChocoBars, Sykkuno and Peter Park. The #PlayGalaxy Cup was truly a global event with several popular gaming influencers from outside the United States traveling to San Jose to compete including Berticuss from Australia, Patriota from Brazil and supercatkei from Singapore. Fuslie’s YouTube VODs from the event alone surpassed over 100,000 viewers, while Patriota amassed over 370,000 views on Twitch.

After all the fun and games were over, popular content creators Pokimane and Ludwig presented the winner of the event with a massive check good for a 55-inch Odyssey Ark 4K curved gaming screen. The winners were arieffyong, supercatkei, rurusama9 and GaGod, who formed a team called SuperYongGod9.
