It seems like everybody has fallen in love with Lady Dimitrescu ever since Capcom first revealed her to the world. Mass Effect Legendary Edition

PC, PS4, Xbox One -- May 14

This is a collection featuring remastered versions of all three of the games in the Mass Effect trilogy. Mass Effect takes place in space and revolves around Commander Shepard as he tries to save the galaxy from The Reapers and their agents. If you only have time to play one of the games, Mass Effect 2 is particularly beloved. This collection was announced to much fanfare on Nov. 7, a date of significance for the franchise known as “N7 Day.” Bioware also announced that another Mass Effect game was in development, so this might be the perfect time to jump into the series if you haven’t played it.

Subnautica: Below Zero

PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch -- May 14

Subnautica, an open world survival game, is an indie darling that’s getting a sequel this month. The first Subnautica has a 10/10 rating on Steam and got a 9.1 out of 10 rating on IGN. Just like the first game, Below Zero takes place on an alien planet, 4546B. The sequel takes place a year after the events of the first game and the action primarily happens underwater. You can already take a peek at the game on Steam, where it has been available in early access since January 2019.

Bonus: Subnautica has slowly been released on different platforms since it was first released in early access for PC in 2014. In 2015 it became available for Mac and in 2018 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It’ll finally be released for the Nintendo Switch on May 14.

Days Gone

PC -- May 19

Days Gone is an open-world survival-horror game set a couple years after the start of a global pandemic. You control Deacon St. John, a former outlaw biker, who finds out that his wife might still be alive in this post-apocalyptic world. The game released for PlayStation 4 originally in 2018. Now, it’s coming to PC. It’s a rare game that was originally a PlayStation-exclusive that later comes to PC. Horizon Zero Dawn was a former PlayStation-exclusive that Sony made available for PC last year.

Rust

PS4, Xbox One -- May 21

Rust is a multiplayer survival game that fully released for PC and Mac in 2018. It briefly became a popular game that many big-name streamers, including Felix “xQc” Lengyel, Michael “shroud” Grzesiek and Imane “Pokimane” Anys, were playing on Twitch in late December and into January. It’s finally coming to PS4 and Xbox One this month, so it’s possible it gets another bump in popularity on Twitch this month.

Oddworld: Collection

Switch -- May 27

The Oddworld franchise includes a series of games that have been released across several platforms over the past two decades. The games generally revolve around the Mudokons’ attempts to break free from their oppressors. The first game in the series, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee came out in 1997, and the latest, Oddworld: Soulstorm, released just last month. This month, Oddworld: Collection -- a bundle of three previously released games -- comes out for the Nintendo Switch. The collection includes Munch’s Oddysee, Stranger’s Wrath and New ‘n’ Tasty.
